•SAN Implementation •Verify host compatibility with NetApp SAN Support Matrix •Verify FC/IP switch setup and ensure connectivity between host and NetApp •Install the NetApp Host Utilities Kit and experiment with it •Configure FCP and/or iSCSI service on the host and on NetApp •Enable multipathing (DM-MP on Linux, MPxIO on Solaris) •Discover LUN on a host using FCP and/or iSCSI •Label a LUN on host •Create a host volume and provision it using a NetApp LUN •Sun SVM on Solaris and native LVM on Linux •Create file system on NetApp LUN •Test access to a LUN during path failure using host multipathing •Storage Design Studio •Install the SDS application on a laptop with minimal assistance. •Create a complex NetApp storage design using SDS, including configuration of aggregates, FlexVol® volumes, qtrees, and LUNs. •Design SAN components using SDS, including hosts, HBAs, FC switches, and zoning of switches. •Design data protection storage configuration using SDS, including SnapMirror®, SnapVault® and Open Systems SnapVault. •Create command-line scripts automatically that will implement the storage design created in SDS. •Create a Visio diagram automatically of the storage deployment using SDS. •Create a Word document detailing the design created in SDS |

This course is for NetApp Channel Partners only! Part 1: SAN Implementation This instructor-led, hands-on workshop is for NetApp® employees and partner audiences who implement SAN solutions with NetApp storage systems. The workshop shows how to connect Solaris hosts using FCP and iSCSI into a NetApp SAN environment, how to connect Linux hosts using FCP into a NetApp SAN environment, and how to connect VMware hosts using FCP and iSCSI into a NetApp SAN environment. Part 2: Storage Design Studio Students will learn to install and use NetApp® Synergy Storage Design Studio (SDS). Learn to design a complex storage deployment through hands-on labs. Upon completion of the workshop, students will be able to create a SAN design document, Visio® diagrams, and scripts that will be used to create the actual storage entities on NetApp storage products. |
